The big picture
The Affordable Care Act (ACA), often called Obamacare, sets important coverage rules. The Marketplace is a shopping and enrollment platform for private individual and family health insurance. Florida uses HealthCare.gov; our HealthSherpa link offers an online enrollment route.

A premium tax credit may lower your monthly premium. Eligibility depends on household income and other rules. Update your application when income or household details change.
Eligible applicants can get cost-sharing reductions that lower deductibles, copays, and coinsurance. These extra savings generally require a Silver Marketplace plan.
Marketplace insurance is sold by private insurers. ACA-compliant plans can also be sold off the Marketplace, but premium tax credits are available only through Marketplace enrollment.
Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum describe how costs are shared across a standard population—not the quality of your doctor or a promise about what your individual bills will be. Compare the actual deductible, network, drug list, and annual out-of-pocket limit.
Annual Open Enrollment and qualifying Special Enrollment Periods are the main routes. Losing qualifying coverage, marriage, a move, or a new child may qualify, subject to conditions and deadlines. Use the current official enrollment calendar before choosing a start date.

No. Deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and charges for services the plan does not cover may still apply. Compare the full year, not only the monthly bill.
Follow any document requests, confirm your effective date, and pay the insurer’s first premium if one is due. Selecting a plan alone does not complete every enrollment step.
